DAYSPUG Presentation October 9th 2012

Last night I spoke to a great crowd of SharePoint folks at the Dayton SharePoint Users Group (DAYSPUG) in Dayton, Ohio. I knew most of the folks in attendance from other local SharePoint and PowerShell events, so it was nice to see everyone again.

This time instead of talking about PowerShell, which by the way I love to do – I decided to present on Microsoft InfoPath. I have a presentation I have used a few times now that in my opinion is a great intermediate view of what you can do with InfoPath and SharePoint 2010.

The topic is called “Funnel your Info down a new Path“, and it focuses on different types of forms available to you in SharePoint 2010. It was a pleasure to go west to Dayton and present to other Microsoft enthusiasts!

Microsoft Heartland Region SharePoint Conference 2012 – UPDATE

Another Heartland Conference in the history books, and this one was by far the most impressive one yet – and I’ve been to all 3 so I can say that. 🙂

Turnout – amazing.
Topics – fantastic.
Speakers – phenomenal.
Food – delicious.
Weather – eh, it’s Ohio what did you really expect?

I was pretty happy with how my presentation turned out, as I had a packed room and very little to complain about in terms of issues. IE crashed on me right square in the middle of my first demo, so that was fun. I also had issues trying to create lists, as the create dialog which launches in a Modal dialog did not play well with the projectors. Instead of allowing the create.aspx page to launch in the modal, I had to revert to my 2007 tricks and go straight to /_layouts/create.aspx?IsDlg=0. No big deal.

In terms of my presentation, I felt the contents of my demonstrations were very well received, and the crowd seemed to understand the value that InfoPath can bring. Microsoft Heartland Region SharePoint Conference 2012

Tomorrow is the 3rd annual, Microsoft Heartland Region SharePoint Conference!

I am honored to be speaking at what should be a fantastic turnout. We have speakers from all over the United States, who all have one thing in common – their love for all things SharePoint.

My presentation will be on InfoPath and how businesses can leverage it in multiple ways across their organization to increase productivity while giving their users a brilliant, engaging platform to interact with data. This will be the first public use of this newly assembled InfoPath presentation, as I’m stepping out of my infrastructure and PowerShell comfort zones a little. That said, I’m extremely excited to give my interpretation of what InfoPath can bring to a business.

I will certainly be tweeting during the conference, and will post again after the conference – that post will include an update on how the presentation went, slides from the presentation, and probably much more.
