While doing some QAing on my current 2010 migration project, I received an interesting issue on my Migration Issues list from one of our power users.
“The document icon no longer links to the document, what’s wrong?”
Surely this should work, so I went into the list settings and the column still looks as it did in MOSS, including the description text indicating that it is linked to the document.
A quick search brought me to this MSDN Blog where I discovered that this is by design in SharePoint 2010.
“The Icon will still be shown as before but the click on the Icon will not open the file anymore. This behavior with SharePoint 2010 is by design. Removing the wrong text in the description is addressed for all the languages we offer for SharePoint 2010.”
